The word of Alan never fails to disappoint. His ability to turn inexplicably complex ideas into something a 5 year old can understand is what separates his philosophical style from the rest, and is what makes this book so unique. Sure, one cannot fully name or explain the Tao, but Alan comes about as close as one could.I've had people ask me if this book was "actionable". That is to say, did it actually influence my judgment and decision making. The answer is a resounding yes. The tenants and principles of Taoism described in The Watercourse Way provide a very concrete framework to view the world through.Ultimately: choose nature, be patient, capture essence, and don't forget to keep life playful :)

I read this years ago.Liked it then.Still like it.Watts is probably the best westerner to interpret Eastern thought, at least the Tao.If you want to get a good feel for Taoist things in a compact format this is the place.Older but still very relevant.

So good I am going to read it twice more. There is a lot of deep meaning in this work that one must come back to it again to gain the benefit of the book and knowledge within.

All-time favorite, served for the first research paper I ever wrote. I think my enthusiasm got me an A.

I bought this book 20 years ago & was just thumbing through my copy. Ben Feldman was a master salesman and proved it in this book. For his time, Feldman produced staggering sales figures. These were mostly sales of whole life policies packaged to presented to business owners. The sales techniques and Feldmanisms are easily transferable to today's selling and also transferable to the selling of any product. He took a boring product like whole life insurance and made it brain dead obvious that you should own it. Spend the money. Get the book. You can't have mine.

Excellent use of language to "disrupt" the client and show him/her their problem and then show them how they can solve it. Feldman keeps it simple and does it all in a conversational tone. Believe in life insurance and the need of people and companies to have it and you have no problem in talking to people about it. A conversation, not a sales pitch.

Ben Feldman started work at 8 am and worked form 12-16 hours a day, 6 days per week. Every night when he got home he would study for two hours to get more knowledge so he could better serve his clients. On Sunday he would plan the week ahead.He developed a method of reducing things and thoughts to their most simple form.Ben sold discounted dollars.He was the greatest life insurance salesman that ever lived and surly one of the best in any field.It's a must read for anyone looking for the keys to success. However, they are iterated in such a way - coming from a reputable and successful source - that drives home the simplicity of what is needed to be wildly successful in sales (and not just insurance sales!).Because this book is out of print, it's hard to find, and an old copy might run upwards of $30-40 or more; however, please believe me when I state in no uncertain terms that it'll be money well-spent.This book cuts through a lot of the modern-day waste, drivel and filler that lines the pages of today's sales books (possibly because it was written in 1969) and cuts right to the core of what is needed to make it.If you are fortunate enough to uncover a copy of this volume, grab it, read it, learn it, and do not give it away.

He has trained hundreds of law enforcement officers around the world in techniques of digital forensics and investigation. Steve Bunting, EnCE, CCFT, has over 35 years of experience in law enforcement, and his background in computer forensics is extensive. He has conducted computer forensic examinations for numerous local, state, and federal agencies on a variety of cases, as well as testified in court as a computer forensics expert. He has taught computer forensics courses for Guidance Software and is currently a Senior Forensic Consultant with Forward Discovery. Ryan Johnson, DFCP, CFCE, EnCE, SCERS, is a Senior Forensic Consultant with Forward Discovery. The book is ok. The author certainly has tons of enthusiasm and drive to succeed in his ultimate quest to own the Jets, but I couldn't finish the book. I found a lot of the advice simply clashing with the sensible things I learned elsewhere.For instance, early in his book, the author makes a very strong black-and-white statement that in order to succeed you have to be willing to throw all your eggs in your startup's basket and go full steam ahead. I, too, had always believed this brash, confident approach in business until I read Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World. And wow I was much more impressed by Originals than by AskGaryVee.In Originals, the author cites studies that surprisingly reveal that people who gave everything up to do their start ups failed a lot more than people who built their start up more strategically. The group that succeeded more treated their start ups as side hustles, hedging it as a risky bet until the particular side hustle was sufficiently de-risked before plunging in. To further illustrate this point, the author also cites examples like the Google founders, Bill Gates, the founders of Warby Parker (who he taught), and others.So, while Mr. Vaynerchuk charges his advice with more motivational umph, the truth seems to be more nuanced than to push a all-or-none attitude on starting a business. This is relevant if a founder of a startup wants to know the statistics of different approaches.I also didn't like the style of AskGaryVee. Due to the chosen format (a collection of Q&A), it felt unfocused,To me, this book's value lies in it's confidence building and motivational aspects. It's the sort of advice some successful dude might give you in a bar. It is a cheerleader. But if you're looking for strategic wisdom based on data rather than personal anecdotes, you should definitely supplement this book with some others that have more scholarship and discipline to them.

Listen, no matter what your business is or what you're into, this book (and audio book) will make you better at life! I am a Pastor, and despite some of Gary's "language", the work I do with teenagers in ministry has skyrocketed in effectiveness! Whether it be social media, branding, marketing, or just being true to ME, this book has paved a way for me to be the best version of myself. I used to dread working long hours, but thats because I wasn't doing it in a way that it capitalized on 1. what I'm good at, that 2. I love doing. One of the greatest things I've learned from Gary is to surround myself with a team of talented people that are great in areas that I'm not great it, allowing us to crush it! I post thoughts and quotes from this book (and gary's website) on pages that reach thousands of Pastors every week. Though running a church is a LITTLE different than running a regular business, a LOT of the ideas are the same. We exist to bring value to people whether it be a product, or something more.Thank you Gary for providing me SO much value and showing me how to crush it in youth ministry. Our students are engaging with me and each other better than they ever have before! Don't underestimate your reach, you really are making a difference. Though you may not believe what I believe, you are helping students in Springfield Missouri get connected to a church that truly does love them! Keep up the good work!p.s. I'd love for you to make a 4-5 minute video on how churches can use social media to engage their communities better (maybe w/o cussing, haha!)... Also, all the pastors I know are freaking about about the "legal" issues involved with snap chatting minors??.. Anyways..
